Gran Canaria cycling

Europe's best cycling island

Gran Canaria is consistently ranked among Europe's top cycling destinations. Over 600km of tarmac road, from sea-level coastal routes to 1,900m mountain passes, all accessible within 30 minutes of our base.

Year-round 18–24°C, minimal wind at altitude, and light traffic outside summer make it ideal for serious training or exploratory riding. The Pico de las Nieves climb at 1,949m is one of the best hill climbs in Europe. Recovery days include optional guided hiking.

Led by our expert local guides, former Canarian cycling champions who have ridden every road on the island.

FAQ

Cycling retreat FAQs

What level of cyclist is Gran Canaria suitable for?
Gran Canaria suits intermediate to advanced cyclists most. Our retreats are graded from Moderate (60–85km/day) to Expert (100–120km/day). We ask guests to be comfortable riding 50km with 1,000m elevation before joining a Challenging retreat.
Can I bring my own bike?
Absolutely. We have a full bike workshop and wash station at Aguimes. We can advise on airline bike transport options.
Is Gran Canaria better than Tenerife for cycling?
Gran Canaria offers more varied terrain in a smaller area, you can climb 1,900m and be back at the coast within a single day. Traffic is significantly lighter than Tenerife, especially off-season.
